Stephen Crawley, the former MD of Caledonian Brewery, has resuscitated Liverpool's famous Higson’s Beer, a brewery which operated from 1780 to 1990.
He has also bought the Liverpool Craft Beer Company, and converted their warehouse into the multi-million pound H1780 Tap & Still. Brewing is set to start in December 2017, sympathetically using a different recipe from the original, with tours and tastings starting in early 2018.
They will also produce a new gin, The Ginsmiths of Liverpool, influenced by the city's old trading routes.
